Ocean Footprint Supplies 200 TCT Saw Blades to PSFab in the Northern Territory

Ocean Footprint Australia has recently supplied 200 tungsten carbide tipped (TCT) saw blades to PSFab, one of the Northern Territory’s leading aluminium fabrication companies.

Originally developed with leading shipyards including Wight Shipyard, the Ocean Footprint TCT blade range is now being used by marine fabrication and engineering companies around the world.

The recent order from PSFab highlights the continued adoption of Ocean Footprint products within the Australian marine and aluminium fabrication sector.

The blades form part of Ocean Footprint’s specialist product range developed in collaboration with professional boat builders and marine fabrication partners. Working closely with industry engineers and shipyards, Ocean Footprint refined the blade design to improve cutting performance, durability and productivity in demanding aluminium fabrication environments.

The result is a high-precision tungsten carbide tipped blade designed specifically for aluminium boatbuilding and marine fabrication. The blades incorporate increased carbide tip size, refined tooth geometry and improved manufacturing tolerances, delivering measurable improvements in blade life and cutting performance.

Testing with industry partners has demonstrated up to 25% improvement in blade performance and approximately 50% cost savings, while maintaining the precision required for professional fabrication work.

Ocean Footprint Supplies Solarglide Bridge Solar Screens for INCAT Hull 096

Ocean Footprint Australia recently supplied Solarglide Type Approved marine solar screens for the bridge of INCAT Hull 096, supporting improved visibility and thermal comfort within the vessel wheelhouse.

Solarglide is a leading manufacturer of marine blinds and solar control systems and was the first company in the world to achieve Type Approval for marine solar screens. The products are widely used across commercial ships, ferries, cruise vessels and offshore installations to reduce glare and solar heat gain within bridge environments.

The bridge of a modern vessel can experience significant solar gains from both external sunlight and internal navigation equipment.

Solarglide’s specialised marine solar screens help address this by blocking up to 55% of solar radiation, reducing glare while maintaining outward visibility for safe navigation.

Research conducted in collaboration with Newcastle University has shown that marine solar screens can reduce bridge cooling demand by up to 40%, helping to lower HVAC loads and improve working conditions for bridge crews.

Ocean Footprint supplied the solar screens as part of its ongoing support to shipyards and vessel operators, providing specialist marine equipment and technical products for commercial vessels.
